About Red Garnet

As garnets were thought to resemble the seeds of the pomegranate, the word is derived from its Latin name granatus. Garnet is a stone with a long history, dating as far back as 3 800 BC. The gemstone was used in Ancient Egyptian art and jewellery and it was valued as sacred by Native American Indians, the South American Indians, the African tribal elders, the Mayans and the Aztecs.

Garnets come in a wide variety of colours, the most famous colour being deep red .

Symbolism:

Over the years, garnets have been symbols of love, passion, peace, devotion and deep-rooted friendship. It is also believed to enhance creativity and imagination. The garnet has been known as a “stone of commitment” – to purpose, to others and to oneself.  Especially in Ancient times, it was also seen as protection for travellers and soldiers alike.
