Down to Earth Jewellery is rooted in nature, intention, and individuality.

We create copper, gemstone and shell jewellery using a combination of electroforming and hand-making techniques, allowing each piece to be shaped in a way that honours the material and its natural character. Our collections include raw and polished stones, organic forms, and thoughtfully designed pieces that feel alive on the body.

We are inspired by the way nature works — slowly, imperfectly, and with deep intelligence. Copper, stones and shells carry a grounding energy, and wearing them is a sensory experience. Like walking barefoot on the earth. Like breathing in fresh air. Like returning to your body and becoming present in your environment.

Some of our designs are created through electroforming — a process where copper grows organically and bonds directly to gemstones, forming unique textures that can never be repeated. Other pieces are shaped by hand using traditional jewellery-making techniques. Each method is chosen intentionally, guided by the material and the feeling we want the piece to carry.

Designed and made in our Blouberg studio, we work with quality natural materials and small-batch production rather than mass manufacturing. This allows space for variation, individuality, and authenticity. No two pieces are exactly the same — and that is exactly the point.

Founder & Creative Visionary

Rethea’s love for jewellery began in childhood, inspired by the gemstones in her mother’s jewellery box — each one a small wonder, filled with colour, texture and quiet magic.

Her journey has moved through many design disciplines, from technical precision to hands-on making, gradually leading her back to natural materials and organic processes. Exploring copper electroforming became a turning point, opening a new way of working with stone, texture and form. Over time, this expanded into a broader, more fluid practice that blends electroforming with hand-making techniques and thoughtful design.

At the heart of Down to Earth Jewellery is a belief that nature doesn’t need to be corrected — and neither do we. By working with materials in their natural state and allowing space for imperfection, Rethea creates jewellery that celebrates authenticity, presence and individuality.

Down to Earth Jewellery continues to evolve, guided by intention, integrity and a deep respect for the natural world. It is jewellery for those who choose to feel, to slow down, and to wear something that truly resonates.
