Garnets come in a wide variety of colours and although the most famous colour is deep red, some popular species include the green garnet. These belong to the andradite and grossular garnets.
There are two species that fall under the grossular garnets, the Tsavorite that features a chrome green colour and the Grossularite that is yellow green in colour. The term grossular derives from the botanical name for gooseberries, which is grossularia, in reference to its colour.
