Pear Ruby pendant on long copper chain
Gorgeous pear-shaped ruby copper pendant, handmade with love.
This incredible stone has a beautiful deep colour, it is mesmerizing to look at! The chain is a 45cm oval link with a toggle clasp.
All chains are made from solid copper, although they are rose gold plated to preserve the finish. The plating will wear off in time, revealing the natural copper colour underneath. Copper is a natural antibacterial agent, and the wearing of copper jewellery is considered to have a therapeutic effect on the human body.
All jewellery comes in a beautiful jewellery box with a relevant gemstone information card, as well as a thank you note with care instructions.
Jewellery pieces are created by a process called copper electroforming, which allows for the deposition of copper electrolytes over several hours in a copper/acid solution. This results in unique and unpredictable textures, as the entire process is organic.
Please be aware that the colour of copper darkens over time, and the item can be cleaned using a sachet of Copperbrite and a soft cloth. (Available here) Copper can potentially turn the skin green as it reacts with the chemicals in some skins. A coat of clear nail polish will prevent this.

The first written references to ruby deposits come from the 6th century AD.
