Natural gemstones and copper

The gemstones are natural, raw, and unpolished, ranging from 2-4 mm each. Depending on the size of the stones and your finger, there will be 4-6 gemstones in your piece. The "imperfections" in the gemstones are what make them special, adding to the beauty and individuality of each jewellery piece.

Our pieces are crafted through copper electroforming, a process that allows copper electrolytes to deposit over several hours, creating unique and unpredictable textures. The entire process is organic, making each piece one-of-a-kind. Copper may react with your skin, potentially leaving a green mark. While harmless, this can be easily cleaned with soap and water. A simple coat of clear nail polish on the inside of the ring can also prevent it.

About Ruby:

Ruby is one of the four precious gemstones and is part of the corundum family. The name ruby derives from the Latin word rubrum, which means red. Rubies range in shades; from pinkish to blood-red. Ruby and sapphire (the blue form of corundum), are siblings and they are the hardest stones after diamonds, scoring a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. The first written references to ruby deposits come from the 6^th century AD.

Symbolism:

Rubies are associated with intense passion, good luck, contentment, success, energy, enthusiasm and personal inspiration. Some even believe they have the power to attract and maintain love! They were also worn by Burmese soldiers for protection and some still believe them to protect from danger. Rubies are referred to four different times in the Bible, where they are associated with beauty and wisdom.

• Copperbrite: Our preferred option for cleaning is Copperbrite, which you can find available here. This specialized solution effectively restores the shine of your copper jewellery.

• Home Remedies: You'll also find numerous home remedies online for cleaning copper jewellery. Lemon juice is our personal favourite! Simply apply lemon juice, rince and dry. 

Furthermore, with regular wear and handwashing, copper tends to naturally regain its shine.

The delivery time depends on the item you've chosen:

• For our gemstone rings, custom scallop shells, pansies and urchins which are crafted to your specific requirement, please allow 3-5 working days for production before shipping. 

• For our gemstone cuff bracelets, please allow 3-5 working days for creation.

• All other in-stock pieces will be dispatched the next working day after your order is placed.

• South African Orders: If you're located within South Africa, The Courier Guy will deliver your order in approximately 1-4 business days, depending on your location. 

• International Orders: For our international clients, DHL or FEDEX will deliver your parcel within 7-10 working days. The exact timeframe may vary depending on your specific location.
