Pansy Shell Pendant
Our large pansy shell pendants are made with real shells. Measuring +/-5 cm, we create a copper frame by a process called copper electroforming.
They are attached to a copper anchor chain with a lobster clasp, that can extend from 40cm to 50cm. The chain is rose gold plated to preserve the finish.
Pansy shells, not actual shells but the skeletons of sea urchins from the Clypeasteroida group, inhabit shallow bays and estuaries. They earned their name from the flower-like pattern on their skeletal tops. These shells have inspired myths, such as their association with Aphrodite, love and beauty goddess in Greek mythology. Pansy shells were considered sacred and used for attracting love. They were also believed to possess protective powers against negativity. Collectors and beachcombers are drawn to their delicate beauty. Pansy shells remind us of the enduring connection between the sea, nature, and human imagination, inviting us to marvel at the wonders beneath the waves.
Please allow 3-5 working days for your shell to be electroformed.
*No animals were harmed, these shells were picked up from the beach*
