Moonstone Hexagon Gemstone Set
This hexagon gemstone earring and necklace set really make a statement!
The hexagons are 20mm wide and have gemstones (6mm -8mm) set in copper in the centre. The chain (Included) is a delicate anchor link chain that extends from 40cm to 50cm. It has an S clasp. The hexagon, chain and earring hooks are solid copper and is rose gold plated to preserve the finish. They are therefore hypoallergenic.
The gemstones we use are raw and unpolished, so they might have some” imperfections”. (In our opinion it adds to the beauty and individuality of each piece!)
Jewellery pieces are created by a process called copper electroforming, which allows for the deposition of copper electrolytes over several hours in a copper-acid solution. This results in unique and unpredictable textures, as the entire process is organic.
Please be aware that the colour of copper darkens over time, and the item can be cleaned using a sachet of Copperbrite and a soft cloth. (Available here) Copper can potentially turn the skin green as it reacts with the chemicals in some skins. A coat of clear nail polish will prevent this.
About Moonstone:
Moonstone is a flashy translucent member of the feldspar family, a cousin to labradorite and sunstone. Ancient Romans believed that moonstone was solidified rays of the moon. It derives its name from an effect called adularescence - the optical phenomenon that causes the extraordinary glow on the surface of the stone. The light dances across the stone much like moonlight would glide across a large body of calm water.
Birthstone: One of the birthstones for June (with pearl and alexandrite)
Anniversary stone: 3rd and 13th
Symbolism:
In ancient times, the moonstone was said to elicit deep passion between lovers. Moonstone is also believed to represent intuition, abundance, femininity and nurturing energy. Due to its connection to the moon, it is thought to represent new beginnings. It is also associated with health, nourishment and longevity.
Once called the traveller’s stone, moonstone was also used as protection against the dangers of travel.
