About Ruby:
Ruby is one of the four precious gemstones and is part of the corundum family. The name ruby derives from the Latin word rubrum, which means red. Rubies range in shades; from pinkish to blood-red. Ruby and sapphire (the blue form of corundum), are siblings and they are the hardest stones after diamonds, scoring a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. The first written references to ruby deposits come from the 6th century AD.

Rubies are associated with intense passion, good luck, contentment, success, energy, enthusiasm and personal inspiration. Some even believe they have the power to attract and maintain love! They were also worn by Burmese soldiers for protection and some still believe them to protect from danger. Rubies are referred to four different times in the Bible, where they are associated with beauty and wisdom.
