Made with solid copper and rose gold plated to preserve the finish, making them hypoallergenic. The plating will wear off in time, revealing the natural copper colour underneath. Copper is a natural antibacterial agent, and the wearing of copper jewellery is considered to have a therapeutic effect on the human body.

All jewellery comes beautifully packaged in a jewellery box with gemstone info card and care guide.

The gemstones we use are raw and unpolished, so they might have some” imperfections”. (In our opinion it adds to the beauty and individuality of each piece!)

Jewellery pieces are created by a process called copper electroforming, which allows for the deposition of copper electrolytes over several hours in a copper-acid solution. This results in unique and unpredictable textures, as the entire process is organic.

Please be aware that the colour of copper darkens over time, and the item can be cleaned using a sachet of Copperbrite and a soft cloth, available here:Copperbrite and/or polishing cloth – Down to Earth Jewellery ) Copper can potentially turn the skin green as it reacts with the chemicals in some skins. A coat of clear nail polish will prevent this.

About Emerald:

Probably the most valuable of the four famous precious gemstones, emeralds have been admired for their beauty and bold green colour for millennia. We often think of diamonds when we think of rare and expensive gemstones, but emeralds are more than twenty times rarer than diamonds. Emerald is the green variety of the family of beryl. Known from as early as 2 000 BC, Cleopatra’s passion for emeralds is well documented. It was also named as the fourth foundation stone in the wall of the new Jerusalem.

Some estimate that the oldest emeralds are around 2.97 billion years old.

Birthstone: May

Anniversary stone: 20th, 35th and 55th

Symbolism:

As the jewel of Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty, the emerald has been known as a “stone of successful love”. It is seen as a symbol of loyalty, truth, unity, unconditional love, partnership and domestic bliss. It is also believed to enhance compassion, sensitivity and patience towards oneself and others.
