What is a Herkimer Diamond?
Despite its name, a Herkimer Diamond is not a true diamond.
It’s a naturally formed double-terminated quartz crystal, originally discovered in Herkimer County, New York.
While the name comes from this region, similar crystals are also found in other parts of the world, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, and parts of Africa.
What makes these crystals so special is that they form with points on both ends—completely naturally, without the need for cutting or shaping.
And unlike traditional gemstones, they’re not always perfectly clear or symmetrical.
